City residents may use their current Yard Waste Permit to gain entry and drop off non fee-based items.

Curbside carts are an optional alternative for disposal of recyclables and yard waste.

To order a curbside recycling or yard waste cart, please contact our office at 970-962-2529. 

Fees for all non-residents and commercial businesses:

• Grass/leaves - $7.50 per cubic yard
• Branches/lumber - $8.50 per cubic yard
• Logs between 12 inches and 36 inches in diameter - $12.50 per cubic yard
• Logs over 36 inches in diameter - $17.50 per cubic yard
• Sod (no large rocks or foreign debris, attached dirt okay) - $8.50 per cubic yard
• Pallets - $1.50 

City residents must present their yard debris permit at the gate to drop off organics and clean lumber, or be charged the non-residential/commercial fees. If you need a replacement permit, please contact the administration office at 970-962-2529.

Yard Debris and Raw Wood Debris

• Grass clippings
• Leaves
• Garden trimmings, including Halloween pumpkins
• Branches cut into 6 foot lengths or shorter
• Logs larger than 36" in diameter must be cut into 2 foot sections
• Sod (attached dirt ok, no large rocks or foreign debris)

Metal

• Large appliances,  dishwashers, water heaters, microwaves (remove plate), etc.
• Small appliances, including hair dryers, toaster ovens, crockpots without the inserts, humidifiers without plastic tanks, stereos, DVD players and copy/fax machines.

• Fire extinguishers (must be empty)  

There is a $25.00 charge for anything containing refrigerant; e.g. refrigerator, freezer, AC unit. 

Other options:

• Water & Powers rebate program.
• Larimer County Landfill
• Residents can pay a company to have the refrigerant reclaimed.
  o Documentation must be obtained, and presented to the gatehouse attendant.
  o If a resident brings authorized documentation (for our records), we will accept the unit for free.
  o Check with local appliance business in the area.

Note: It is very dangerous, and illegal to discharge the refrigerant into the atmosphere. If a line is cut (either on purpose or accidental), the $25.00 fee will be charged because the proper documentation for removal will not be available.

• Motor oil is limited to 8 gallons a day, per customer/vehicle. Containers must have an attached pourable spout and be completely closed with sealed cap(s)/plug(s), and cannot exceed 16-quarts in capacity.

• *Mattresses/box springs - $29 fee for each (effective 04/01/2025). Mattresses/box springs infested with bed bugs or rodents will not be accepted.

  • Corrugated cardboard must be flattened and cut down to fit through a 3' wide x 6" tall opening. (Larger pieces often clog the hopper and prevent the compactor from working.)

  • Plastic grocery bags, newspaper bags, dry cleaning bags
    •  (Does not include: landscape plastic, new mattress cover, feedbags and shrink wrap)
  • Plastic #2 plant containers
• Paperboard
  • Flatten boxes and place through 3' wide x 6" tall opening

Please note, there are two bins for paper products.  Please use the white paper bin for white paper only, no color paper or envelopes with plastic windows. Color ink on the white paper is okay.

All colored paper, envelopes with plastic windows can be placed in the all paper bin.

Miscellaneous

• Concrete - 30" pieces or smaller and load must not exceed 2.5 cubic yards (standard pickup truck bed) it must also be free of rebar, wood pieces or posts, reinforcement, dirt and trash
