When it rains in Loveland, the water doesn’t just disappear—it flows through our neighborhoods and into nearby streams. Keeping that water clean matters. Our Stormwater Quality Program helps protect local waterways, wildlife, and our community by managing runoff and preventing pollution before it reaches our rivers.

Stormwater quality directly affects public health, environmental health, and quality of life in Loveland. Polluted runoff can harm aquatic life, degrade water quality, and limit recreational use of our waterways. By preventing pollution at its source, Loveland can protect drinking water supplies, reduce long-term cleanup costs, and create a healthier environment for everyone.

Everyday actions to protect our waterways

All water that flows into a stormdrain inlet discharges into a local waterway untreated. Pollution prevention starts in the home. You can make a difference by picking up dog waste after your dog and applying fertilizer to you lawn sparingly. Collecting leaves and putting them in your yard cart or taking them to the Recycle Center will keep them out of the storm drains and help prevent street flooding. Washing your car at the carwash or on the lawn will prevent soapy, dirty water from flowing into the street and eventually into the storm drain.

You can prevent water pollution and you can help keep our streams and rivers clean!

Get involved

Stormwater quality protection is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re a homeowner, business owner, or community member, there are many ways to get involved—from learning best practices to participating in local programs. Together, these efforts make a meaningful difference in keeping Loveland’s stormwater clean.
