The City of Loveland encourages bicycling and walking for transportation and recreation by making biking, walking, and rolling increasingly safe, accessible, convenient, and enjoyable. We invite you to incorporate the outdoors into your daily routine by walking or bicycle-commuting to work, shopping, errands, or just for fun!

Safety
Protect your head! Wearing a good fitting helmet is the best way to protect your head while riding a bike. Check out these resources on how you can make sure your helmet fits correctly:
Using hand signals helps drivers, pedestrians, and other cyclists know what you are doing when you are riding a bike. Just like you use a blinker in a car, you can use hand signals to indicate if you are turning or stopping while you are on your bike.
Left Turn: Fully extend your left arm out to the side
Right Turn: Bend your left arm up at a right angle with your hand flat (alternatively: fully extend your right arm out to the side)
Slowing or stopping: Extend your left arm out at a right angle with your hand open and fingers facing down
Check out this two-minute video by the League of American Bicyclists that illustrates how to properly use hand signals:
