Programs that empower participants of all physical, emotional and cognitive abilities.

What is Adaptive Recreation (AR)?

Loveland Adaptive Recreation program provides activities and services to individuals in the community who have varying levels of physical, emotional or intellectual abilities. We are dedicated to empowering all individuals to participate in recreational programming and activities. The AR program is led by professional and experienced staff.

Adaptive Recreation offers the following opportunities:

Adaptive Programs

Adaptive programs are specialized programs for individuals who may have disabilities and need adaptive support to participate in activities. These programs are open to everyone but are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with physical, intellectual, and/or emotional disabilities.  Adaptive Programs include trained staff, modifications, and adaptive equipment to provide optimal participation and quality experiences. Programs will be listed in the Adaptive Recreation section of the Activity Guide.

Inclusion

The Adaptive Recreation program provides support for people to participate in any Loveland Recreation program.  AR can help determine how to most effectively support individuals in recreation programs. Inquiries about what type of accommodations are available should be made at least two weeks before the class begins.

Unified Sport Leagues

Loveland Recreation offers Unified teams for sports like basketball, soccer and softball. They are teams comprised of players with and without disabilities. These leagues may work with rule additions and changes that allow all players to be supported and make gameplay fair. Unified Sports Programs promote gross motor coordination, dynamic decision making, inter-player communication, endurance, and wellness.
