The City of Loveland offers two types of sales tax licenses: a Regular Sales Tax License and a Non-Physical Sales Tax License. Please review the details below to determine which applies to your business and how to manage each appropriately.
Regular Sales Tax License:
This license applies to any business or individual that has physical presence in Loveland. Physical presence does not just mean a physical location. This license has a $20.00 application fee.
Physical presence means, performing or providing services, or selling, leasing, renting, delivering, or installing tangible personal property for storage, use, consumption in the city.
Examples of physical presence:
- Having a physical location.
- Sending employees, agents, or sales reps into the city for sales, repairs, installations, demos, deliveries, taxable services or other work.
- Owning, leasing, or renting property including buildings, equipment, motor vehicles, etc.
- Engaging in activities that require local licenses, permits, or are subject to local regulations (like zoning or fire codes).
- Food trucks, mobile vendors.

Renewal Instructions:
If you are submitting your license renewal by mail:
- Include the renewal invoice.
- Include a check for $20.00 made payable to the City of Loveland.
- Failure to include all required documents may result in your payment being returned.
- Clearly write your business name and City of Loveland license number on the invoice and the memo line of the check.
- Renewal invoices are mailed by mid-November.
- If you need to renew sooner, please use a blank renewal invoice.

Important Note:
You will not receive a physical copy of your license in the mail. To obtain your renewed license:
- Log in to Citizen Access to print a copy for your records.
- Email salestax@cityofloveland.org to request a copy.
Due to high volume, please allow 4-6 weeks for a response.
To ensure efficient processing, please avoid sending duplicate emails or repeated status requests. Your original inquiry is in our queue, and we will respond as soon as we’re able.
Non-Physical Sales Tax License:
This license applies to any business or individual who does not have physical presence or only has incidental physical presence.
Incidental physical presence refers to occasional, unscheduled business activities, such as providing non-taxable services or delivering, selling, leasing, or installing tangible goods, for use within a local taxing jurisdiction. These activities occur infrequently and are outside the regular course of business.

- Renewal Requirement: None
- Validity: License remains active until a written request to close it is received.
Important Note:
- Our office does not require or accept renewal forms for this type of license.
- Do not mail in a renewal form or payment for non-physical licenses.
