The City of Loveland will begin construction on the Boise Avenue Crossing Improvements Project during the week of August 17. The project will focus on enhancing safety, accessibility, and connectivity for everyone traveling through the area. Construction is scheduled to finish in late fall, weather permitting.
Boise Avenue is a major roadway that provides access to McKee Park, Banner Medical Offices, and several residential communities. The project will deliver upgrades that improve the crossing for people walking, biking and driving while supporting a more reliable and connected transportation network for the community.
Upgrades will include:
- Pedestrian crossing signals, median islands, and curb extensions with enlarged sidewalk landing areas where Boise Avenue intersects with 16th Street, 19th Street, and Silver Leaf Drive
- Crosswalk features with pedestrian push buttons and rapid flashing beacons
- Removing the southbound left-turn lanes at Boise and 16th Street and Boise and Silver Leaf Drive, a measure intended to slow traffic speeds
The work is in response to a 2016 City of Loveland Boise Avenue Corridor Study that identified a need for safer crosswalks and related street improvements to calm traffic in the neighborhood. Minor delays are expected during construction for travelers from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. No detours are scheduled. Commuters may use Madison Avenue as an alternative.

Funding
Funding for the Boise Avenue Crossing Improvements project comes from a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant for $382,500 and $207,500 in matching funds from the City of Loveland’s General Fund.
