New unified department, flashy new name! Loveland’s parks and recreation, library, and cultural services team have been unified under the City’s newly named Community Placemaking Department.

Director Kara Kish says the new identity captures their mission of “Providing Lifelong Access to Connections and Experiences,” for which PLACE is an acronym. This phrase emphasizes teamwork and coordinated service across all divisions. The name also reflects the City’s focus on creating meaningful places and experiences for residents.

The department brings together beloved amenities and programs that our community consistently rates highly—from open lands and recreation to arts, history and learning. Kish notes that placemaking is intentional and active, turning public spaces into vibrant, welcoming destinations where people gather, explore, celebrate and connect.
