New 2025 Loveland Bikeways and Trails Map Available

Post Date:06/20/2025 2:28 p.m.

Citizens can learn about new trails, trail conditions, bike routes and more, with new up-to-date resources available online and at locations throughout the community.

Parks & Recreation’s Open Lands & Trails Division and Public Works’ Transportation Engineering Division recently partnered to update the Loveland Bikeways & Trails map, including new trails, bike routes, bike lanes, and “buffered” bicycle lanes throughout the city. Buffered lanes are painted buffer areas separating bicycle lanes and motor vehicle travel lanes, providing increased safety and additional comfort for bicyclists. The new Bikeways & Trails map is available at city offices and facilities, the Loveland Visitors Center, and Boyd Lake State Park.

Trail users can also get trail information from Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX), the free statewide app and website, which offers information about trails, including current conditions, closures, and alerts. The City of Loveland and other local trail managers, like Larimer County, City of Fort Collins and US Forest Service, use the system and provide real-time updates available 24/7.  Users can check on trail updates, search trails by activity, and learn about suggested routes. Loveland’s 33 miles of paved trails and 30 miles of soft-surface trails in natural areas and parks offer a multitude of options for walking and biking.

Whenever using trails, remember the following trail guidelines:

  • Ride Right - Always ride or walk on the right side and warn others of your approach.
  • Single File - Ride or walk single file when traffic approaches
  • Signal- Give an audible signal and pass on the left side
  • Yield - Bicyclists yield to other trail users.
  • Speed- Max speed is 15 mph for safety of all trail users
  • Courtesy - Slow down when approaching other trail users and maintain a safe speed at all times
  • E-bikes- Type I & II E-bikes are permitted but no motorized vehicles

Residents are encouraged to explore new areas and try out new trails and bikeways to enjoy all Loveland has to offer.

More information is available on the City of Loveland trails webpage, the open lands webpage, and on the COTREX Colorado Trail Explorer website.
