This free training is available for any adult to help present field trip programs to local school groups at small group learning stations and on short hikes at River's Edge Natural Area. Plants & Places programs are offered to 2nd and 3rd grade students on field trips to River's Edge Natural Area.
Learning station topics cover information about the parts and lifecycles of plants, the importance of cottonwood galleries, how seeds are spread, using a low-power microscope to look at plant parts, and what poison ivy really looks like in this area. Also includes a relay race activity, and the Sun, Soil, Water and Air game.
Training starts with a 30-minute preview, then stay for training if it appeals to you, no obligation to commit to teaching at this time. See our Open Lands Volunteer Opportunities and Environmental Education web page for curriculum information.
We will meet at River's Edge Natural Area, with the Loveland City Council Chambers as a back-up location if it rains. Those registered in Offero will be notified of changes due to weather or other conditions.
