Free Paint and Shred Event

  • Introduction: Bring old house paint, stains and varnishes and watch your papers shred!

The City of Loveland will host its annual Paint and Shred Event on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Forge Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Led by the Public Works Solid Waste Division in partnership with GreenSheen, the free event offers a convenient way for residents to safely dispose of hard-to-recycle items. Bring old house paint, stains and varnishes and shred sensitive, confidential or expired documents.

Staff will be on-site to unload vehicles and ensure all items are responsibly recycled.

About Shred Recycling:

  • When:  10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26
  • Where:  The northeast parking lot of The Forge Campus, located at 815 14th Street SW in Loveland. Attendees will enter from the east side off Barboura Drive. 
  • Details
    • Guests will be limited to dropping off five bags/boxes.
    • Bags must not exceed 13-gallon standard kitchen-size.
    • Boxes must be banker box size or comparable, not to exceed 18 inches. 
    • All documents shredded during the event will be recycled. 
    • Anyone who has a home shredder may bring shredded paper to the Recycling Center any time of year with a Yard Debris Permit.

    There are no limits, and participants are encouraged to bring as much as they have.
    • Items that will be accepted:
      • Latex and water-based paint (acrylic)
      • Oil-based paint (alkyd)
      • Stains
      • Lacquers, shellacs, varnishes, & urethanes
      • Primers, undercoat and textured coating paints
      • 5-gallon or smaller containers
    • Items that won’t be accepted: 
      • Spray paint (aerosol cans)
      • Paint thinners, mineral spirits and solvents
      • Auto and marine paint
      • Drywall mud, roof tar, stucco and joint compound 
      • Caulking, adhesives and epoxies
      • Arts and crafts paint
